Going Dotty

Polka dots are a classic neutral now - they always seem to be available in one guise or another each season.  I have collected a few polka dot items over the past few years and still wear each and every one of them.  Sometimes I dress them up with a heel and fun clutch, other times ( as today) I wear them with trainers or espadrilles for a more relaxed look. Whatever your preferred style, make sure you buy at least one polka dot piece for your wardrobe.  It will be a hero item for many seasons to come.

Today I have focused on polka dot dresses.  Dresses that will be great for Summer, maybe with a denim jacket if the day/evening is chilly or for Winter with a sweater worn over.

Let's start with some spotty inspiration from Pinterest:

Today I have browsed 10 online stores and here are the results:

First up this classic taupe spot combo, reminiscent of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Okay, so I know this is not a dress but it can be worn pretty much for any occasion, the good old jumpsuit.

New Look Black Spot Print Jumpsuit £17.99

This loose fit, easy to wear midi is perfect for long summer days, as a dress or a beach cover up.

Urban Outfitters Pins & Needles Polka Dot Midi Shirt Dress £52
I love this combination of white with black spots..
Urban Outfitters Jasmin Julia Polka Dot Dress £56
Another jumpsuit - what was that I said about keeping focused?!

Urban Outfitters Mini Dot Button Through Jumpsuit £59
This insta-famous polka dot dress is still available from Next.  I bought the navy star version and would definitely recommend.
Next Red Spot Tea Dress £30

This Boden dress is just that little bit different, and could be worn with skinny jeans if you aren't keen to get your knees out.

Boden Navy Spot Dress £80
Back to glam now, but this dress would look equally as good with trainers or sandals.

Angeleye Wrap Polka Dot Dress £48
This is very similar to the Boden dress I am wearing today - perfect for any occasion.

Vero Moda Petite Polka Dot Dress £36
Love the navy and white combination on this and sleeve ruffles..

Warehouse Navy Textured Spot Dress £59
Navy and red spots anyone?
Warehouse Red Navy Spot Wrap Dress £39
I've gone up a few notches on the price with this Whistles dress, but the quality will be excellent and will last for years to come.
Whistles Spot Wrap Maxi Dress £159
I love the contrast front and back on this dress - a touch of Rixo at a fraction of the price - I've yet to try it but I will be doing soon.
Topshop Spot Front Floral Back Dress £49

I love the look of this dress but am not sure if the high neck would bother me on a warm summer day.

Topshop Polka Dot Frill Midi Dress £49
Love this one..
Marks and Spencer Long Sleeve Midi Dress £35
And this one too - similar to the Topshop one but without the high neck.

Marks & Spencer Spotted Long Sleeve Midi Dress £35
Then onto Mango - This navy and white dress is so cute - not sure about the hat though!

Mango Polka Dot Midi Dress reduced to £29.99
Love the oversized spots on this one..
Mango Bow Polka Dot Dress now £29.99
And the teeny tiny dots on this one...
ASOS Polka Dot Smock Dress £50
More oversized dots...
ASOS Mango Large Spot Dress £49.99
Medium sized dots here!
ASOS Design Button Midi Dress £35
Easy to wear, with the extra detail of the zip at the neck.

ASOS Reclaimed Vintage Polka Dot Dress £30

As I was browsing I found three pairs of Mango shoes that would look just fab with any of the above..

Mango Heel Leather Mules £59.99

Bow Leather Shoes £35.99

Mango Fabric Plumeti Ankle Boot £35.99

Do you love polka dots?

Until next time,

Trend Watch Autumn/Winter '17 - Polka Dots

Polka dots are a wardrobe classic and whilst they never go out of fashion they sometimes do take a back seat.
However this year were truly resurrected, taking a main role on the Autumn/Winter catwalks where they were paired with intricate pleats and ruffles and made super-sized in monochrome.
They are now seen scattered throughout the High Street, my edit of which follows after the usual Pinterest inspiration...

Before moving onto my edit of all things Polka Dot, check out this top and this dress  both from H&M and whilst this gap dress isn't actually polka dot it is well worth a look!

Mango - Sale Picks

I've managed to fit some more browsings in, in between shopping for last minute holiday bits and pieces and packing.
This time Mango is the destination of choice for my Sale edit...all items were in stock at the time of typing and they are all £29.99 or less..Mango Sale Picks

As usual, I could find a place for all of these in my wardrobe were it large enough! I especially love those straw hats and sunglasses - yes, you've guessed it I am now firmly in holiday mode!
I'll try to fit another post in before leaving for my holiday, if I don't I'll post again mid-August.

Top 10 Picks from Zara

Well, hello little Blog, it's been a while.  I will try to fit you in to my increasingly busy life more often in the coming weeks, I promise!

Let's start with a look at my current Top 10 picks from Zara..
1.
Top with Frilled Sleeve £17.99

A useful little top with the added frill detail.  Looks just as good with tailored seperates as it does with jeans and shorts. Bonus!

2.
Gingham Dress with Ruffled Sleeve £39.99

I'm loving the gingham trend at the moment.  I have invested in a couple of black/white pieces this season and think this red/white dress looks excellent and not too much like a tablecloth from an Italian restaurant.
3.
Backless Jumpsuit £25.99

This is a versatile piece for layering over a tee or wearing on its own over a bikini/swimsuit for holidays.

4.
Polka Dot Jumpsuit £49.99

Love everything about this jumpsuit - the cropped length, polka dots and navy/white colourway. Great for a night out with heels or with trainers for the day.

5.
Trousers with Frilled Waistband £39.99

Love the update to the chino style here.  Fab with a tee or a shirt.

This jumpsuit is perfect for hot Summer days at home or on holiday.  I'd wear with tan sandals or trainers.

7.
Crossover Striped Blouse £29.99

I've tried many a boho top but have returned them all...this one however looks that little bit different with the tie giving it the shape the others lacked.  Wear with white jeans or denim shorts.

8.
Printed Poplin Top £25.99

Just gorgeous to give your denim a Spring pick-me-up.

9.
Pompom Basket £19.99

I have bought a couple of baskets over the years and find myself falling for this one too along with this one too.

10.
Slides with Tassels £49.99

Okay, so they're not very practical and wouldn't work so well on a sandy beach, but I adore these slides for wearing with a dress, boyfriend jeans or shorts when the weather warms up.

Back soon with my Top 10 from another high street favourite...
