3 Ways to Style Shorts

After having found three perfect pairs of shorts for my upcoming Summer Break, I have been gathering some inspiration (from Pinterest, Blogs, magazines and friends) on how to best to style them...

I would love to wear my shorts like this - I see myself on a sunny but cool Parisian Summer day strutting through the Tuileries with my toned, tanned legs peeking out from under the on-trend duster coat... who am I kidding?!  But I love this look.  The popover shirt is chic with a relaxed feel and works well with the high-waisted figure-flattering linen shorts.  I spotted the Nomad sandals at a friend's house today and had to include them; with their midi chunky heel and suede ankle ties they are just too gorgeous to be ignored!  Plus the Duster coat works perfectly as an extra layer over Summer dresses and skirts too, so it's a Summer essential in on-trend camel and will work well throughout the Summer and into the early Autumn.

I fell in love with these white "matelot" shorts last week and promptly ordered a pair - they are waiting to be packed into my suitcase for my Summer hol which can't come soon enough - I'm particularly looking forward to waking up to blue skies!  For this outfit I have paired them with this vertical stripe shirt from Next but they would look just as good with a horizontal Breton stripe or a grey tee.  Again the waist is high and flattering - no muffin top.  I really like the black straw sun hat too which smacks of movie star style, a la Audrey Hepburn

I have a pair of denim cutoffs which I bought from Next a couple of years back.  They "do the job" but I'm still searching for the perfect pair and when a friend of mine told me that her favourite pair are the ones she cut down from a well-worn pair of jeans I thought she had hit the nail on the head. Whilst I'm waiting for my favourite pair of jeans to wear out enough to justify cutting the legs off I may just buy these H&M ones to fill the gap.  Denim Blue with white is a perfect look for Summer and this floaty top from H&M with added pompoms would look great with denim cutoffs. The leopard espadrilles will add some print detail and the Chloe-esque bag will just finish the whole outfit off beautifully.
